3 Top Essential Skills for Creating Engaging Writing

You become a successful writer when your content has the ability to engage the readers for a long period of time.
If you are a Harry Potter fan, why did you long to read the book? Its the credit of the author who has created interesting plots and characters taking the readers to the virtual world. When the readers lose their identity and merge with the characters, then the content becomes successful.
You need these easy skills to create an engaging content.
Skill #1 : Catchy headline
This is the doorway to your content. While scrolling through so many articles, what makes the reader stop and click your headline is the author's ability to create a catchy headline.
Here are a few tips to write great headlines.
The headline should give a clear benefit that the readers are going to get if they read your content.
Skill #2 : Storytelling
It is the art of taking the readers through the different life situations of the characters. For example, when I write about my initial writing challenges, I write about how I felt when I could not get any content ideas like staring at the blank page for hours and not able to write a single word. How it made me feel? How I wanted to quit writing? All these emotions should reflect in the words so that the readers can relate.
Here is a 7-step storytelling framework by John Truby.
Before giving any solution to a problem, write why would even the readers care to solve the problem. Write how not solving the problem impact their lives. For example, if before telling the readers about the benefits of writing, I would address a few situations like anxiety, overthinking, loneliness,etc. Now if you writing during these times, it helps to calm their minds. Then I would give them the techniques to write.

Skill #3 : Audience empathy
The next step is to understand the pain point of the audience through different signals like like, comments and shares.
You will get an idea when you interact with them through social media post or the comments that they post to your content.
When you want to get online visibility, your content should be positioned to answer their painpoints.
Writing that captivates doesn’t happen by chance—it’s a craft shaped by intention. A compelling headline sparks curiosity, storytelling builds emotional connection, and audience empathy makes your message meaningful.
